Disclosure & Review Guidelines
Where money or a relationship is involved, you should know about it. Where a review is involved, you should know how it was done. This page covers both, starting with the short version.
The short version
- TheGuideX is owned by HeySERP Marketing Services. Consulting work for clients is the main business.
- Some links on deal, store, and review pages earn us a commission. They never decide what we recommend or how a list is ordered.
- Sponsored pieces are rare and always labelled on the page.
- When we mention a product we own, we say so.
- Every review says how deeply the product was checked.
Editorial independence comes first
Everything here is written to be useful to the reader. No affiliate deal, sponsorship, or partner status changes a recommendation or a verdict. If a tool is not good for the reader a page is written for, it does not get recommended, whatever it pays.
Affiliate links
Some links to products, deals, and coupons are affiliate links. If you click one and buy, we may earn a commission. You pay the same price.
- Affiliate links pass through
try.theguidex.com, so you can spot them by the address. - In a roundup, only the top three picks carry an affiliate button, however many tools offer a programme. The rest link straight to the vendor.
- Links that earn money carry
rel="sponsored", so search engines know they are paid. - Where a free or cheaper option is better for you, we say so, even if it pays us nothing.
Pages built around these links also say so near the top, in line with the US Federal Trade Commission's guidance on clear disclosure.
Sponsored and paid content
If a piece is paid for, it is labelled as sponsored on the page itself. Payment buys our time and the placement, never a fake opinion. We write the words, we try the product first, and the weaknesses stay in. We turn down anything we cannot cover honestly. The partnership page explains how paid work is handled.
Products we own
Sunny Kumar builds and co-owns software. When one of these appears on the site, we say it is ours at that spot, because a product we own is a direct commercial interest:
- Carousify (LinkedIn carousel tool) and PC Builder (PC compatibility checker), both co-founded;
- Acadise (school discovery platform), Signibility (e-signature), and Slideso (AI presentation maker);
- Grip AI (open-source AI agent platform) and the User IP and Location WordPress plugin;
- HeySERP Marketing Services, the company that owns TheGuideX and also runs the HeySERP agency.
Our own products are held to the same standard as everything else on a list. Where one is the right pick, we explain why, and we name the alternatives that suit other readers better.
How products are reviewed
A full single-product review is hands-on. Before it goes out, the product is signed up for, set up, and used for the job the review is about: a hosting plan runs a real site, a plugin runs on a WordPress install, a SaaS tool goes into a real workflow.
Roundups work differently. Each pick is checked at one of three levels (used in real work, signed up and tried, or checked from the source), and the roundup says which. The full method, including how the order is decided, is on how we test and rank tools.
What a review covers
- What it does, and whether it does what the vendor claims.
- Ease of use: setup time and what it is like to live with.
- Performance: speed and reliability in real use.
- Real cost: the free plan's limits, the paid price, and the renewal price, not only the first-year offer.
- Support: how it answers and how quickly.
- The company behind it: how long it has been around, how it handles updates and security, and what users say.
- The catch: every product has one, and it gets named.
Claims: ours and the vendor’s
When we state a speed, uptime, or price figure as a fact, it comes from our own check or from the vendor's live page at the time of writing, and we say which. A vendor claim we could not verify is reported as the vendor's claim, not as our finding. A product we have not used first-hand never gets a full review.
Deals and coupon codes
Coupon and deal pages list offers that sellers set. We check them when a page is published or updated, but sellers change prices and expire codes without notice. We do not inflate discounts, and we call out the fake “98% off” style codes other sites repeat. The price at the seller's checkout is the one that counts.
Tools and platforms we work with
Through client and product work, we use many third-party tools and sometimes hold accounts, partner status, or review access with them. Where that relationship matters to something we write, it is disclosed there. A working relationship with a tool does not earn it a positive mention.
How we use AI
AI tools may help with research, drafting, or editing. A person checks the facts, does the hands-on testing, and stands behind every published page. Nothing is published only because a model wrote it. Screenshots are captured by us from the real product.
Keeping pages current
Software changes quickly: features move, prices shift, companies get bought. Pages are revisited when something meaningful changes, and the date on each page is its last real update.
Not professional advice
Content here is information, not legal, financial, or professional advice. Your results depend on your own site, market, and execution. See the terms and the privacy policy for the rest.
Corrections
If something on the site is wrong, or looks like it should carry a disclosure and does not, write to hello@theguidex.com. We check it, fix the page, and update its date.
